Hiring Practices and Procedures

Full-Time Professional Positions (Schedules B, C, and D) 
 

The hiring process for full-time faculty, administrative, and other professional positions on Salary Schedules B, C, or D follows ACCS Board Policy 602.02: Posting and Hiring (11/10/2020). 
Position Announcement 

  • The employment process begins when the President or designee prepares a job description and vacancy announcement.
  • Announcements are posted on the BSCC website for a minimum of:
    • 7 days for standard positions.
    • 14 days for supervisory, managerial, or newly created positions.
  • At the President’s discretion, announcements may also be shared through employment agencies, newspapers, social media, or other outlets.
  • The President reserves the right to close a job search at any time before a position is awarded.

Application Requirements 

Applicants must submit:

1.    A completed BSCC application for employment.
2.    Unofficial transcripts of all college credit showing degrees earned.
3.    A current resume.

Advisory Committee

  • The President may appoint an advisory committee to assist in the search process.
  • The committee’s role is strictly advisory and may involve:
    • Reviewing applications.
    • Interviewing candidates.
    • Providing feedback to the President.
  • The President retains full authority over the hiring decision and is not obligated to follow committee recommendations.
  • The size, composition, and membership of the committee are determined by the President.

Qualification Verification & Interviews

  • Education, experience, and certifications (if applicable) must be verified before an interview can be scheduled.
    • Education: Verified through transcript review.
    • Experience: Verified through employer documentation (not personal references).
    • Certification: Verified through review of relevant licensure or certificates.
  • The President determines the number of applicants to interview and reserves the right to delegate initial interviews to an administrator or advisory committee.
  • The President or his designee conducts all final interviews before making a hiring decision.
  • The President may reopen the hiring process at any time.

Exclusions 
These procedures do not apply to:

  • Temporary/interim positions
  •  Internal postings, transfers, or reorganizations.
  • Supplemental duties or department chair assignments.

Internal job postings are handled in accordance with Policy 602.02.

 
Full-Time Staff & Permanent Part-Time Positions (Schedules E and H) 

The hiring process for full-time staff (Schedule E) and permanent part-time positions (Schedule H) follows ACCS Board Policy 602.02.

Part-Time Positions (Continuous & Non-Continuous) 

The hiring process for part-time positions follows ACCS Board Policy 602.02. Position Announcement 

  • The President or designee prepares a job description and vacancy announcement.
  • Position announcements are posted on the College website.
  • The President may close a job search at any time before the position is filled.

Continuous Vacancy Notices

  • Most part-time positions (adjunct instructors, clinical instructors, tutors, on-call staff, hourly employees) are posted as continuous vacancies on the College website.
  • Continuous vacancies must be posted for at least 7 days before being filled.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:

1.    A completed BSCC application for employment.
2.    Unofficial transcripts of all college credit showing degrees earned. (High school transcripts may be required for some positions.)
3.    A current resume.

Interviews & Hiring

  • The appropriate administrator or supervisor, in consultation with Human Resources as needed, will determine the number of applicants to interview for part-time positions.
  • The administrator or designated advisory committee may conduct all interviews and will make a recommendation for hire based on qualifications and program needs.
  • The College reserves the right to reopen the hiring process at any time if necessary.
